Dental Implants are made of highly biocompatible material like Titanium alloys. These form artificial tooth roots that for the missing natural teeth. They are placed to support crowns, bridges or dentures. Implants are placed in your upper and /or lower jawbone by Implantologist like Dr Anurag Gupta through a minor surgical procedure. Implants give a more natural feeling than other modalities of replacing missing teeth, for example dental crown and bridges.
The Dental Implants have an out and clear advantage over dental crown and bridges, because they do not have to rely on the neighboring tooth/teeth for support and therefore, the healthy adjacent teeth donot have to be prepared by dental drill. And so, the integrity of existing natural dentition is maintained as before.

While the upfront cost for implants can be more than for other types of restorations, the investment pays off in the long run. You may not need an implant for every missing tooth. Your implantologist will discuss how many implants you will need.
Who is a candidate for dental implants?
Whether you are a young adult or and elderly one, if you're missing one tooth / many teeth/ or all of your teeth, dental implants may well be for you. As long as, you have enough bone in the area of the missing tooth to facilitate the placement and holding of the implants, the dental implants procedure will yield pleasing results. If you don't have enough bone in your jaws for this purpose, than a bone graft may be necessary.
If you have a small dental bridge or partial denture, dental implants are a terrific alternative. Dental Implants are indeed a good alternative to a fixed bridge. The implant can last a lifetime.

Overview of Dental Implants
Dental Implants are placed in your jaw bone during a minor surgical procedure while under local anesthesia. It is not a very tedious procedure. At Maximus Dental. implant surgery is just like having a tooth extracted. Our implantologist, Dr Anurag Gupta and his team will ensure that the amount of pain and discomfort caused during implant surgery is minimal. You are normally advised to take rest on the day of surgery, but you may also do light work if you like. You can resume normal activity from next day. Our patients usually inform us that they experienced much less discomfort than they had thought previously.
The dental implant placement procedure is a minor surgery wherein sterilized dental implants are opened from the original sterile supply packing and placed in your jaw bone. The dental implants usually require a three to six month healing period before crown or a bridge can be given on it. During the healing or waiting time, the bone grows in and around threads of the titanium implant thereby, creating a very strong support. The rejection or "failure" rate is very minimal, only 1 to 2% of all procedures. After the implant has been "taken" and your bone has sufficiently healed, a natural looking crown is then placed on the implant.
For aesthetic purposes, you may sometime be given a temporary plastic tooth to fill the space till the dental implants have been taken in the bone.
As long as you have enough healthy bone in the area of the missing tooth/teeth to facilitate the take of the dental implants, a regular implant procedure can yield terrific results. If you don't have enough healthy bone for the implant purpose, a bone graft may be necessary. Generally, a procedure of building up the bone is known as Bone Grafting. In the upper jaw it is usually called as Sinus lift procedure. Bone grafting is a common procedure with dental implants. Nowadays artificial bone (xenografts) and (allografts) are available. Same person’s bone (autograft) can be collected from other areas of the mouth also.
Over the years, human life span is increasing, and replacing decayed permanent dentition with dental implants is becoming increasingly important as we get older. While dentures are usually loose and tend to be unstable, dental implants provide us with newer dental replacements that are both natural looking and functional. Dental Implant-teeth look better, feel better, and also chew better, than traditional removable bridges, and offer the same or even more force for biting as bridges that are fixed in place.
Dental Implants are made to last your lifetime!!!
